Plato Hoops
Plato Hoops are inspired by a study of the platonic solids as illustrated by Leonardo Da Vinci in Luca Pacioli's book De Divina Proportione (printed 1509). This interpretation by designer Peta Heys takes the radial geometry of the icosahedron and divides it into six points to form a central hexagon of harmonious proportion.
The design pays homage to the studies of Pythagoras and the great philosopher Plato who associated these sacred shapes with each of the four elements - air, fire, water, earth. These statement hoops are lightweight and sustainably produced with recycled sterling silver.
